KUTZTOWN--Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) hit an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning to give Bloomsburg University a 1-0 win over Edinboro Friday afternoon in game eight of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Softball Regional championships.

It was a pitchers' duel as Bloomsburg had five hits and Edinboro managed four, and the game was scoreless into the extra inning.

Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) pitched the complete game for her 22nd win of the season against five losses while striking out six. Vanessa Rose (14-15) went the distance for Edinboro. She struck out eight.

For the Huskies, Reed finished 2-for-4 with the lone RBI of the game with Missy Bachert (Coplay/Parkland) going 1-for-3.

Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia) led off the eighth with a single. Two batters later, Reed doubled to left center and Shiko scored from first on the play for the game's only run.

Edinboro got a runner on in the bottom of the eighth when Katelyn Gurgliolo singled and advanced to second on a throwing error by Lynn with one out. Lynn redeemed herself, striking out Rose and forcing a groundout by Dana Webb to close the door. Gurgiolo was 2-for-4 for the Fighting Scots.

Bloomsburg (37-13) will face Lock Haven at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the winners' bracket.
